After 22 years serving the community with Mid Michigan Big Brothers Big Sisters, Carol Gage has announced her retirement effective September 10, 2021. The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters has been near and dear to Carol’s heart while serving an astonishing number of youth in seven counties.
Through the years, the agency has grown and provided even more youth opportunities for participants. Inspiring youth through mentorship and by providing occasions to explore activities that help them grow. Those activities like CMU football games, Great Lakes Loons games, Binder Park Zoo and college visits, Carol has spearheaded it all.
Over the years, Carol has had a huge impact on both the agency and the community.
During her time with Mid Michigan Big Brothers Big Sisters, Carol witnessed the expanse of the organization, which, over her 22 years, has grown to serve seven rural counties in central northern Michigan.
Originally, the organization was founded in 1975 to serve Clare and Gladwin counties. In 2010, there was the addition of Roscommon County, and in 2011, the group added both Mecosta and Osceola counties. In 2018, Gratiot and Montcalm counties were also added.
The main office is located in Clare while satellite offices also include Greenville, Alma, Roscommon, and Reed City.
Mid Michigan Big Brother Big Sisters want to express their sincere thanks for over 22 years of hard work, dedication, and for the wonderful environment, she has fostered at the organization. Those at Mid Michigan Big Brothers Big Sisters say with a fond, yet sad tone, “thank you for everything and happy retirement, Carol Gage!”
