MIDLAND – Imagine a summer afternoon witnessing the delicate flight of numerous colorful butterflies filling the air. Butterflies in the Park, an event that includes a live butterfly release and special commemoration event in honor and in memory of loved ones, will be held on Sunday, Aug. 6, at 1 p.m., at locations throughout the region.
Butterflies in the Park is hosted by MidMichigan Home Care with simultaneous butterfly releases at the following locations:
•Alma – Pine River Park, West Picnic Shelter, 620 S. Lincoln.
•Clare – Shamrock Park, 221 Wilcox Parkway.
•Gladwin – Riverwalk Place, 777 W. Cedar Avenue.
•Midland – Chippewassee Park, 101 Golfside Drive.
•Mt. Pleasant – Woodland Hospice House, 2597 S. Meridian Road.
Butterflies in the Park is an opportunity to remember and celebrate those who have lived their lives in ways that have had a positive effect on their friends and loved ones. The event will include a brief program and musical selections. Names of those being remembered and honored will be read during the butterfly release. Attendees may purchase and release an individual butterfly or enjoy the release of a beautiful cage of butterflies.
A donation of $25 releases an individual butterfly. Proceeds benefit MidMichigan Home Care patients and their families. MidMichigan Home Care provides a variety of health-related products and services that help individuals remain independent at home. This includes hospice care. Various disciplines are involved to meet all the individual needs of the hospice patient – physical, emotional and spiritual – as well as the needs of the family.
