BEAVERTON – In a report issued by Beaverton Schools Superintendent, Joe Passalacqua, he provides details about the Beaverton Class of 2020 commencement ceremony. The report states:
“The Class of 2020 commencement ceremony will be held on Thursday, July 16 at 7 p.m. for the graduates only. Our commencement ceremony plans were impacted by our region remaining in phase four. This limits any outdoor gathering or event to no more than 100 people. We will set up a stage in front of the high school and have our students seated with recommended social distancing.
We have plans to have a photographer and videographer capture the event so that we can offer this to students and families at no charge. We plan to live feed it through Facebook as well. We have been very open to the fact that we would make any necessary changes the week prior to the event, if need be.
We had high hopes that the Governor would put our region into phase five by now. Unfortunately, that is not the case. If we get bumped back to phase three before Thursday, July 16, then we will need to cancel these plans and make alternative arrangements. Many other high schools around the state are doing the samething.”
