MT. PLEASANT – Jacquelyn Good, 12, Maegan Fernelius, 14, Noah Kile, 12, and Fengjin Cui, 16, recently performed piano selections at a “Mock Master Class” at Central Michigan University, in Mt. Pleasant.
The Master Class was held on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, and was hosted by Dr. Adrienne Wiley, Professor of Piano, Pedagogy and Class Piano and CMU piano pedagogy students.
Jacquelyn Good performed works by C.P.E. Bach and Kuhlau. Maegan Fernelius performed works by J.S. Bach and Khatchaturian. Noah Kile performed works by J.S. Bach and Burgmuller. Fengjin Cui performed works by J.S. Bach and Chopin.
Jacquelyn is a 6th grade student at Surline Middle School, (West Branch), and is the daughter of Jon and Kim Good of West Branch.
Maegan is a 9th grade student at Ogemaw Heights High School (West Branch) and is the daughter of Dennis and Jeri Fernelius of West Branch.
Noah is a 7th grade home schooled student (Gladwin/West Branch) and is the son of Bob and Sheila Kile of Gladwin.
Fengjin is a 10th grade student at Gladwin High School and the son of Craig and An Yuan Voise of Gladwin. Fengjin also participated in the CMU Instrumental Workshop Day at CMU on Friday, Nov. 20. Cui performed a selection by Debussy in the final recital of the day along with current CMU piano majors.
All are students of Mary Chartier, Certified Piano Teacher of Secord Lake. Chartier is a board member of the Bay Area Music Teachers, and a member of Michigan Music Teachers and Music Teachers National Association and is a Church Pianist/Organist.
