Junior varsity Flying G’s tie with Clare

CLARE – The Gladwin and Clare junior varsity football teams battled to a 21-21 tie Thursday night on the Pioneer field. Leading the G’s offense was Richie Mathis with 18 carries for 107 yards. Mathis was also 9-for-20 passing for 171 yards and two touchdowns, and made good on all three extra points. Kyle Bigelow contributed five catches for 114 yards and two touchdowns, and Charlie Allen had three carries for 10 yards and a touchdown. Jake Shell had two catches for 37 yards, and Oshay Lewis had two catches for 20 yards. Leading the defense was Leon Corlew with 20 tackles and a blocked pass. Jake Shell had 12 tackles, while Nate Craig, Dylan Brooks Kyle Bigelow and Kasey Cameron each had five tackles. The junior G’s travel to Roscommon tomorrow where they will face the Bucks starting at 6:30 p.m.
