GLADWIN – A third quarter deficit threatened to put a damper on the Gladwin homecoming Friday night, but the Flying G’s broke through in the fourth with three touchdowns to beat the Sanford- Meridian Mustangs 42-24. Gladwin led 21-17 at halftime, but trailed 24-21 at the end of the third quarter. The G’s turned it on in the fourth quarter, scoring 21 consecutive points for the victory. Leading the Flying G’s was Demetri Trice with 12 carries for 143 yards and four touchdowns. Landon Grove also had a big night, rushing 15 times for 115 yards and two touchdowns. Grove also was 14-22 passing for 114 yards. With the win, Gladwin improves to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in Jack Pine Conference (JPC) play. Meridian falls to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in JPC play. The G’s face the Eagles at Farwell Friday starting at 7 p.m.
