Emogene Leone Hillier, 89, of Gladwin, Michigan, passed away after a long illness on Thursday, July 5, 2012. She was born on April 21, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Leon and Emma (Trepp) Roff, and shared her birthday with her mother.
She married Donald Hillier on April 18, 1946 in Clio. She has lived in Gladwin County since 1954, previously residing in Flint. She was a teacher for 40 years, teaching 32 of those years in the Beaverton Rural School District, and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gladwin.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Hillier of Gladwin; daughters, Paula (James) Bailey of Gladwin, and Wendy Kareus and Tim Mills of Sand Lake; son, Elias (Lisa) Hillier of Gladwin; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Roff of California; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Judy Shephard, Ermadale Wirt, and Shirley Harper.
Visitation was held on Sunday, July 8, 2012, from 5-9 p.m. and Monday, July 9, 2012 from 9-11 a.m. at Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home. Funeral Services were conducted by Pastor Russo on Monday, July 9, 2012, 2 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may used according to the wishes of the family.
