Valarie Steele has been nominated Student of the Month at Beaverton High School for Band by Mrs. Kintner. Valarie is the daughter of Toby and Theresa Steele.

Kintner writes, “It is an honor and privilege to select Valarie Steele as my student of the month at Beaverton High School.

“Valarie is a senior band member of the high school band, where she is section leader and principal flautist. She is a four-year member of the student band executive board, serving two years as representative and two years as secretary.

“Val is very helpful in and out of class. She is the ‘Go-To’ person in charge of many behind the scenes types of things. Val was in charge of organizing the November bake sale and worker schedule for the festival we held at BHS on Dec. 1. She knows what needs to be done and does it without being asked.

“Academically, Valarie ranks at the top of her class and has been a member of the National Honor Society for three of her four years at BHS. She is also active in Cross Country, Track and Quiz Bowl.

“Valarie recently received the honor of performing with the University of Michigan Marching Band on Dec. 9 in Ann Arbor and was selected to perform with the East Shore Wind Symphony in Standish on Dec. 16.”
