Roehrs awarded for 60 years of membership at Post 171

Young pianist wins scholarship in piano competition

WEST BRANCH – Mary Chartier, Certified Piano Teacher, of Gladwin, is pleased to announce that Jacquelyn Good, age 12, of West Branch, recently won first place in the Rosekrans Piano Competition. Good won first place and a monetary award in the Intermediate Division of the Competition. Three young performers were entered in the Intermediate Division – grades 6-8.

Brad and Jill Lower, of Gladwin, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Kimberly Lower to Andrew Chandra. Andrew is the son of Pastor Vijay and Narsamma Chandra, of Fiji. Andrew has a Bachelor’s degree in IT, and works as a software programmer in Sydney, Australia. Kimberly has an MA in Cultural History and works in the museum field. A late fall 2016 wedding is being planned.

50th wedding anniversary

Stanley E. and Hannah L. Smith celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 2. They were married in the Somerset Center Baptist Church in Somerset Center, MI. They have three children: Keith D. Smith, Karen Smith Schlieser and Karl D. Smith. They have five grandchildren: Brandon, Kade, Pamela – all Smiths – and Jacob and Andrew Schlieser, and will soon be great-grandparents. They are both retired and enjoying their leisure time.

Brothers graduate from boot camp

Brothers, Logan Mackie and Jordan Husted, recently completed US Army Infantry boot camp at Fort Benning, Georgia. Logan graduated boot camp on Jan. 14 and is currently stationed at Fort Polk in Louisiana. Jordan graduated boot camp on March 11 and graduated from airborne training on April 1. He is continuing his training at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Logan and Jordan are the sons of Bruce and Cindy Mackie of Gladwin. Both are graduates of Skeels Christian School.
