GLADWIN COUNTY — As part of the efforts of the Clare-Gladwin Great Start Collaborative (GSC), a partnership has been formed between preschool agencies in Gladwin and Clare Counties who provide Head Start and Great Start Readiness Programs (GSRP) to families who qualify. This partnership, a goal of the GSC, has been named the “Clare & Gladwin Counties Quality Preschool Partnership”.
Members of this partnership include the Gladwin GSRP (a.k.a. Gladwin Elementary Preschool), Harrison GSRP (a.k.a. Harrison Early Childhood Program), and MMCAA Head Start and GSRP, including Early Childhood Special Education inclusion programs, and NEMCSA Head Start.
The goal of the partnership is to make the process of enrolling children in these free preschool programs easier for parents. Parents need to call a toll free number, 1-866-914-3700, and they will be mailed an information packet.
Included in the packet is a brochure which gives information about each partner preschool, an intake form, and a self-addressed, return envelope. Once completed, the parents will send the intake form to the Quality Preschool Partnership located at the Clare-Gladwin RESD.
Information that is needed on the intake form to determine eligibility include: child’s date of birth, gross household income, place of residence and program preference. All attempts will be made to place the child in the first program of the parents’ choice. Priority is based on the child’s age, family income level and other eligibility criteria. The completed intake forms will be sent to the program of choice, and a representative from that program will contact the families to complete the application for their program.
If you, or someone you know, has a child who will be preschool age (3 or 4 years old by Dec. 1, 2011), please call 1-866-914-3700 to receive an intake packet today! This number can also be called if there are any questions regarding the Quality Preschool Partnership.
