GLADWIN – After earning her MFA at Wayne University in Detroit, Carole Donna Beck’s career began as Fashion Coordinator and Advertising Director, for the Kresge Foundation (K-mart). She continued her art vocation by working in the Detroit Artist’s Gallery. Her work there consisted of creating large woven art installments. Many of her pieces are in public and private collections in the Detroit area. She is a long-time member in the Detroit Weaving Guild. After retiring, she and her husband, Richard, returned to her hometown of Gladwin. When Richard passed unexpectedly after a short illness, her love of art became her form of recovery from her loss. She taught at Kirtland College where her son, Joseph, heads the art department. Carole is now happily married to her favorite person, William. Joining the Gladwin Art Guild, Sugar Springs Art Guild and, of course, the Stitchers has been a pleasure for her. Associating with one’s peers, who have similar interests, does wonders for one’s sense of fulfillment. Art has been a resource of great enjoyment in her life. She highly recommends finding the thing you like doing, best of all, and develop tunnel vision. Let nothing stop you from exploring it. She will be displaying her artwork at the Record and Clarion office during the month of February.
