The old paper trail versus the Internet world

In this computerized, digitized, Facebook, got to be on the Internet world, we genealogists have really got it made, right? We can go on good old Google and find paragraphs in books we never heard of about our forefathers and foremothers. That’s great, but, if we don’t have the full name, or don’t spell the one we have correctly or incorrectly, as the case may be, we will never find a thing and we will be left guessing.

BAC awarded Green Space Grant

BEAVERTON – The Beaverton Activity Center (BAC) recently received a $1,000 Watershed Initiative Grant from the Saginaw Bay Watershed Initiative Network. The grant will assist the BAC in creating a green space and garden area for young persons of the community to learn gardening techniques.

Touch a truck

Young people got a chance to get up close looks at some of the trucks that “work” in Gladwin County, including fire trucks, semi trucks, school buses, ambulances, army vehicles, and police cars. There were also crafts for the kids to do as well. Here, Gladwin Rural-Urban Firefighter Dale Carper hands out some fun and educational items to a young attendee.

Spring Fling a success

Gladwin County 4-H Junior Master Gardener program offered

GLADWIN – The Gladwin County 4-H program is pleased to announce a six-week program called, ”Learn, Grow, Eat and Go.” The program will be on Thursdays, May 26, 2016 through June 30, 2016 at the Beaverton Activity Center from 5-6:30 p.m. The program is for all youth ages 8-11 (as of Jan. 1, 2016.)

‘Home Town’ theme announced for GAAG Members Fine Art Show

GLADWIN – Artists from the community plan to celebrate “Home Town” at the Gladwin Area Artist Guild 16th Annual members Fine Art Show and Sale this fall. Save the date, as the exhibit will be held Sept. 16 and 17 at the Gladwin Community Center building. Members will exhibit images and art works from across Northern Michigan depicting their idea of home and community.
